Reorganizing e-commerce

Sono Group did have e-commerce before the new e-ereactor’s solution. As such, e-reactor produced Magento 1 solutions for their existing e-commerce back in 2014, and in the subsequent years - created a number of solutions for several other companies (within Sono Group) across the Nordic countries. Magento 1 being released initially in 2008 however, reached EOL in June 2020 which called for updating the existing platform to Magento 2. Sono Group wanted a leap ahead on a market where online sales is steadily growing, and customers are becoming very accustomed to online shopping, rather than in traditional retail stores. As a consequence, the Magento 2 solution was a complete rewrite of the Magento 1 stores, with the use of many new technology aspects that Magento 2 offers. Newly required features included: complex product data and configuration, advanced B2B tools, React cart and Checkout as well as the use of GraphQL and Elasticsearch for speed and flexibility.
Solution

Optimizing and structuring data across the Scandinavian Countries

Pimcores PIM and DAM handle everything related to products presented in the Magento-based storefronts. Data are automatically imported from sources like ERP, images assigned through tailored SKU matching logic, imports made by Brand Managers across Scandinavia through tailored excel imports, stored into a single database. The stored data in the PIMcore platform are efficiently exported to populate Sono Group’s e-commerce websites, online catalogs, printed catalogues and more. If changes or updates are needed for the product listings, the adjustments made in Pimcore - update product data across the listings on all sales channels. This happens either in near-real-time passed to a RabbitMQ solution, or as nightly batch jobs depending on the amount of data that needs to be updated.

Results

Today, the client is handling five Magento 2 sites operating in 3 different countries and 3 different languages and soon more to come. The Pimcore solution allows Sono Group to import, add, and update data in single point, thus improving the quality and consistency of their product data. Pimcore being the single point of access for shop content creation and use of product data for marketing. The changes made in Sono’s Pimcore solution are propagated across their entire e-commerce platform, and the accurate information will take part in building up the store’s reputation as a reliable brand.
